About Sara
Designer • Artist • Maker
Born into an Anglo Italian family of fine art and antique dealers on London’s Portobello Road, Sara grew up surrounded by history, materials, and beauty in its most tactile forms. Her world has always been one where artistry is lived …where textiles, texture, and storytelling intertwine.

A Multidisciplinary Practice
After leading the design vision at Sara Tiara for many years — creating couture hats and garments for film, television, the stage, and notable personalities — Sara now works independently from her atelier in the New Forest.
She transforms her paintings into silk scarves, giclée prints, and one-of-a-kind embellished garments created in her New Forest studio.
Drawing on her background in fashion design and millinery, her work often weaves together paint, textile techniques, and hand-embellishment — from dry-felting to layered fabric details.
This movement between disciplines gives her pieces their distinctive texture, depth, and sense of story.

Guided by Nature, Colour, and Symbolism
Sara’s practice is shaped by a deep connection to the natural world.
Motifs of flora, fauna, celestial light, and mythic symbolism reappear across both her canvases and textiles, forming a visual language that is instinctive, expressive, and rooted in place.
Working from her atelier in the New Forest — surrounded by ancient woodland, shifting light and the changing forest rhythms — Sara creates each piece slowly and intentionally.
Every artwork begins as an exploration of colour and spirit, before evolving into wearable or collectable forms.

From Artwork to Silk
Each scarf begins as an original mixed-media artwork, created with layers of texture, mark-making, textiles, and hand-worked details.
These artworks are then translated onto luxurious 16mm silk twill, produced in small batches using OEKO-TEX® certified processes and finished with hand-rolled hems. Every scarf is masterfully made, designed to be both expressive and timeless.
Her giclée prints, produced in England on museum-grade paper, carry the richness and tactility of the original paintings — offering collectors a way to bring Sara’s world into their own.

One-of-a-Kind Creations
Alongside her scarves and prints, Sara designs a growing collection of unique embellished garments, each developed through a process that blends her signature dry-felting technique with layered, collage-like textile work and sculptural detail.
These pieces will be released in small, considered drops throughout the year.
⸻⸻
A Quietly Timeless Philosophy
At the heart of Sara’s work is a belief in slow, intentional making.
Every scarf, print, and garment is created with care, respect for materials, and an emphasis on longevity.
Her pieces invite a moment of pause — a return to touch, texture, story, and the gentle richness of nature.

A Life Between Places
Sara continues to divide her creative life between the quiet of the New Forest, where she works in her atelier, and the bohemian energy of Portobello Road, where her artistic roots began and where she can be found every Saturday at the Admiral Vernon Gallery.

Bespoke
From custom silk scarves to unique embellished garments, Sara offers a small number of bespoke commissions each year.
If you’re interested in commissioning a piece or collaborating on a custom creation, enquiries are warmly welcome.
